Forza Horizon 6 Takes the Festival to Japan

Playground Games moves the Horizon Festival to Japan for its sixth entry, the setting the series' community has asked for the longest.

Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, and it is fair to say that is the one request Playground Games has heard more than any other since the series began.

Why the setting matters here

Horizon has always been as much about the drive between events as the events themselves. Japan gives the studio mountain passes, dense urban grids and coastal routes inside a comparatively small area, which suits Horizon’s map design far better than another wide expanse of open country.

The car culture angle

Japan is also the setting where the series’ relationship with car culture stops being decorative. Touge running and street meets are not features a Horizon game has had to invent — they are already there, and the community will notice immediately whether the game engages with them or reskins them.

What we do not know yet

Map size, event structure, the online model, and how far the seasonal system changes. Treat any specification list circulating before the studio publishes one as guesswork.
