Resident Evil’s RE Engine has a long history of running well on modest hardware and then falling apart the moment memory runs out. Requiem follows the pattern: the frame rate is generous, the texture settings are not.

What actually limits you

Memory, before raw power. The high texture preset is where 8GB cards stop coping at 1440p. When they do, the symptom is not a lower average frame rate — it is stutter, which averages hide completely.

Ray tracing is optional and looks it. Requiem’s lighting is strong enough without it that turning it off is a legitimate choice rather than a compromise, especially on mid-range hardware.

How we would test this

Same bench across cards, native resolution first, upscaling off. Averages logged alongside 1% lows, because a card that averages well and stutters is not a card worth recommending for a horror game — the moments it drops frames are exactly the moments the game is trying to land.

Who should buy what

If you want ray tracing on at 1440p and never think about settings again, the 5070 Ti class is the answer. If you are willing to leave ray tracing off — and in this game that is a reasonable call — the 5060 Ti 16GB does the job for well under two thirds of the price.

What to skip

8GB cards, at any price. They will hold an acceptable average and stutter through the set pieces.
